Saraswati Puja 2023

We cordially invite you for our upcoming event, Saraswati Puja 2023 on Saturday, January 28th 2023 and seek your active participation to make this event successful


The venue is:


Alexandria Room, Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main St, Newtown, CT

Just like any of our earlier programs, we’ll have several attractions on the Puja.    


Food –    Following the tradition of Saraswati Puja, we’ll serve lunch prepared by our members cooked on premise. We’ll seek several volunteers for help in the kitchen
Cultural Program –  We’ll be seeking nominations from our junior members for cultural performances (song, dance, recitation etc).      Art Competition for Kids – There will be a Sit and Draw competition for the kids who would like to participate. You can bring your own colors if you like.    
   Please write to us back if you want to volunteer in any of the events.    

Timing: 

    Pujo will start at 11 AM and we’ll have Pushpanjali at 12 PM. Prasad distribution and Lunch will follow.  Please send us a note if you are interested in Hate-Khori.  

Kids Cultural Program will start approx at 2:30 PM

Parichoy Hemanta Utsav 2022

Parichoy announces Hemanta Utsav 2022 to be held on Sunday Nov 13th, 2022 at Congregational First Church in Middletown, 3 PM to 6 PM. 

Please save the date and block your calendar. Excited to see you all there.

Participation requests will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.  For better planning please send your nominations by Oct 16th 2021,  Please send your entries to parichoyctorg@gmail.com. Slots will be provided till available.

Please start preparing for any solo or group performance for Hemanta Utsav. In alignment with Parichoy’s objective, we would recommend the theme of the performances to be in bengali.

Please note the following guidelines for program participation –

  • Multiple performances by the same person are not allowed – please restrict to the one which is your best.
  • Individual performance requests will be accepted only from Parichoy members.
  • Please briefly mention the nature and duration of your segment [e.g. Song/Instrument/ Recital/Recitation/Dance (type) etc] and any specific sound requirement you may need for your program. Participants are required to bring their own instruments for the purpose.
  • Non-members can participate in group performances, if performing with one or more Parichoy members. There is a registration fee of $5 per child (non-member)and $10 per adult (non-member).
  • Following participation duration guidelines shall be followed
    • Kid’s Solo – 3 minutes/child
    • Adult’s Solo –  6 minutes/adult
    • Group Performance (short) – ≤10 minutes. (min 3 Parichoy members or their children).
    • Group Performance (long) – 20-25 minutes. (min 5 Parichoy members or their children).

Parichoy Annual Program 2022

Parichoy Annual Program 2022 was on June 11th 2022 at East Catholic High School, Manchester CT

Thank you for your participation in the Annual Program of 2022. We thank you for participation and support. We truly appreciate the feedback and comments that we have received.  We are encouraged by the positive feedback and will look for more. 

   Our gratitude towards all the participants and their families on this program for their tireless efforts, dedication and flexibility on months long rehearsals and shootings to make this program happen.    

   Kudos to the coordinators 

Pameli Basak – for working with the kids and present us a mesmerizing celebration on 75th year of independence of India, “Ma Tomay Pronaam” and a tribute, “Sroddhanjali” to respected shri Bappi Lahiri, Geetosree Sandhya Mukherjee and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.

Srimayee Ray and Sanchita Mitra – for working with the kids and bringing us the amazing drama ‘Pakhi Pora based on “Tota Kahini” by Rabindranath Tagore. thanks to Priyanka Mukherjee, Tanusree Roy, Upali Nag and all parents of the kids participated in the drama.

Kasturi SenBhunia – for such a nostalgic melodies of Rabindranath tagore, “Sudha Sagar”. This was a true refreshing program with different genres of Rabindra Sangeet. 

Tania Chandra – for bringing us with such a fascinating concept “Bala Nacho to Dekhi” and captivating execution of the same. It was mesmerizing to watch. 

Kaushik Mitra and Sumilita Mukherjee –  for such an awakening drama “Astitva”. This drama showed us life from different angles and perceptions.

    Thanks to all the  production and post production teams to pull it all together and bring us a remarkable presentation

   Special Thanks to our hosts of the program Somreeta SharmaSusmita Mukheerjee, Animesh Chandra and Sanchita Maitra for keeping us engaged and entertained in between the segments. 

   We wanted to acknowledge the help and support for all of you to make this program happen. We would also like to specially recognize the continued voluntary support from Soumitro Mukherjee, Biprajeet Roy, Girija Shankar Bhuniya, Mainak Biswas, Kinjal Guha, Sayan Bagchi, Aveek Bhattacharya, Kaustav Mukherjee, Arindam Guha, Joybrata Dasand Animesh Chandra for videography, sound, food distribution and on-stage support.

Parichoy Annual Picnic 2022

Parichoy’s annual picnic is on August 6th

We are looking to have loads of fun, games and a mouth-watering lunch with BBQ and other refreshments.

Venue: Crystal Lake Park, Middletown , CT
Time11:30 AM 

Don’t forget to bring your swimming gears to have fun in the lake. Also please bring any sports equipment that you have such as soccer, badminton, volleyball, cricket bat and ball.  We have plenty of activities in the park and games for kids and adults. 

We’ll be doing the grilling similar to previous years and looking for volunteers on the grill, please drop us a note if you would like to showcase your skill at the grill.

Our special attraction this time is what is very near and dear to every bengali’s heart : “mangsho bhat“. Some of our volunteers have graciously offered to cook the ‘chatushpad’ in the typical bangali picnic style. So, save your appetite for delicious feast.

In order, to get a headcount we need you to RSVP and pay the nominal fee for the picnic.

We celebrate the Bengali culture of songs, drama, dance with performances by our members. Please join us as we pay tribute to the talented artists of Bengal and help our young generation to familiarize with our heritage.

Please reach the venue before 4 PM to check in and get to the Auditorium.

Saraswati Puja 2022

We cordially invite you for Saraswati Puja 2022 on February 5th 2022

Location : Alexandria Room Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main St, Newtown, CT

Time : 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

           11:00 AM – Puja Start 

          12:00 PM – Pushpanjali (in batches) 

          12:45 PM – Hate Khori 

            1:00 PM – Prasad Distribution 

            1:30 PM – Boxed Lunch 

            2:30 PM – Kids Cultural Program  

Lunch cooked by our members on premise will be provided.

Other Events & Attractions
  • Cultural Program – Kids cultural performances (song, dance, recitation etc).      
  • Alpona Competition  – Alpona and the artistry around it has been an integral part of Saraswati Puja in bengal. We want to celebrate this part of our culture in this year’s puja

This will be a member only event and only the RSVP’d members are expected to be  attending.

We’ll follow the prevailing state guidelines for indoor gathering and we’ll be requiring all attendees to wear  masks.  

 If you expect the vaccine eligible family members are not fully vaccinated by the time of the event, please do not RSVP and let us know via email.

Cultural Program Nomination
     Please send your nominations to participate in the cultural program (Song/Recitation).   

  • In alignment with Parichoy’s objective, we require all the performances to have a Bengali theme
  • Nominations are going to be accepted on a first come first serve basis and limited to one nomination per individual.
  • Individual performances are requested to be limited to 3-4 mins      
  • Kids’ performances are going to be given precedence if we exceed the allotted time.

Alpona Competition


    Please show us your creative side and your skills on the art of Alpona. Please have the beautiful creation at home on a piece of large black or white chart paper and bring that over to the venue. We’ll put that on display. Kindly refer to the attached guidelines for the submission. No pre nomination needed, please bring the artwork to the venue. 

Guidelines:

  • Media:
    • a. Black art paper or foam board or poster paper (easily available in dollar Tree type stores)
    • b. White Acrylic color should be used to draw the Alpona. No other color is encouraged.
    • c. Brushes can be used to draw the Alpona
    • d. Traditional designs used in Bengal are more encouraged.
  • Draw the Alpona at home as per your convenience and bring it to the venue
  • Please write your name at the back side of the paper/board, no name should be on the front side
  • Alpona can be in Portrait or landscape mode
  • If someone is making the Alpona thinking of some specific occasion, like marriage, Laxmi Puja etc., please mention that in the back side of the paper/board
  • Judgement will be based on public opinion (Parichoy will decide on how to collect the public opinion)
  • All artwork may be displayed in Parichoy website or Facebook page.

             Kasturi SenBhunia – for such a nostalgia with the Bangla Band, ‘Bangla Bander Itibrittyo’. This was a true refreshing program with different flavors.

            Tania Chandra – to bring us such a sweet concept ‘Mon Kharap er Janmodin’ and captivating execution of the same. It was mesmerizing to watch.
